Kids' Meals Houston faced a critical growth challenge: expanding from 10,000 meals per weekday to over 26,000 meals per weekday by 2031 while maintaining safe, efficient operations. The new headquarters facility required a technology infrastructure that could support high-volume meal production, coordinate large numbers of volunteers and staff, and provide comprehensive security and access control—all while remaining cost-effective for a nonprofit organization. The solution needed to be scalable without requiring disruptive future retrofits, and it had to integrate seamlessly with other building systems and construction trades.
Vision Integrated Systems delivered a comprehensive turnkey technology solution across five integrated disciplines. We implemented a robust structured cabling backbone (Cat6 copper and fiber optics) to support all building systems. A complete video surveillance system with Axis IP cameras and networked storage provides facility-wide visibility. AWID access control with card readers and electrified locks ensures security while enabling efficient visitor management. Barco ClickShare conferencing systems and Valcom networked paging support staff coordination and volunteer communication. All systems were installed per construction documents with careful coordination of power, electrified hardware, and building systems. We provided comprehensive staff training, ensuring Kids' Meals can confidently operate and maintain the infrastructure independently. The result is a scalable, reliable technology platform that enables Kids' Meals to safely and efficiently support their mission of ending childhood hunger across Houston for years to come.
